The Kosovar-war brings up a good point. The US does not
tend to listen to foreigners whenever any of our "Vital Interests" are at risk. Since
a huge chunk of the internet's infrastructure is American we should have a large
say in how it is run, but any hardware/networks outside of the US should be as free
to exist with or without US-government approval as technically possible. We should
support a country's right to have internet connections, at least in a technical sense,
no matter whatever their politics, etc. Although there would be no stopping a country
from bombing the physical location of internet links of another country. The UN should
be able to, but aparently cannot; although, that's a whole other issue.
