Bizarre logic for .web |

I have read the explanation for the dismissal of the IOD .web application, but in
essence it seems that ICANN holds the view that for a registry to be able to compete
with .com it must be run by the people running .com. Can anyone else spot the obvious
mistake there? That is not competition and neither does it serve the internet
community well. This has the feel of a typical ICANN decision and compelte
disregard for internet users. The sooner ICANN is made to be accountable for
its poor and inequitable decisions the better.
