Although I purchased a few .web
names from IOD, as well as a few from namespace, I have more to gain (financially)
from supporting Afilias, as I am a registered service provider for Tucows (their
outsource partner). We've all watched the domain name market plummet in the last
year so there isn't big money to be made from domain names anyway! I have, however,
researched Ambler's (and others) ground-breaking steps to introduce new TLDs, and
believe that IOD fully deserves to be awarded the .web registry. They are the pioneers
and deserve the credit. ICANN should be working *with* IOD, not against them.
Isn't it obvious that after years of implementing and refining the scope of a new
TLD, that IOD would make alterations ICANN suggested to ease into the new registry?
IOD has been working for years to make this a reality - why does ICANN so blatantly
feel they'll fall short of a long-worked-for goal? -M Lynn
