My knowledge about trademark applications is limited, but wouldn't CORE be expected to demonstrate use of the .web mark in their application? In what way had they been using it?  Or did they simply plan to establish a proof of concept registry like IOD if awarded the trademark?  I'm curious to know what they could have even anticipated doing that was different from IOD in order to think they had a reasonable chance of getting a trademark in light of their awarenes of IOD's efforts!  Do we want to award registry rights to an organization with that kind of integrity?  Geez.
