This response to the technical elements of the ICANN staff report has been prepared
by 7Ways.com. 7Ways.com also prepared the technical plan for the Affinity/bizTRAC
proposal and will be subcontracted to run the technical aspects of registry
operations if our proposal is approved. This response .aims to address the technical
issues that were raised in the staff report by clarifying some of the points detailed
in our original proposal.
1. During the test and launching period (about 3 to 6
months)
Affinity has the advantage of a double structure through Affinity and 7Ways
with a real time synchronization based on proven Sun type machine on Linux. All data
will be duplicated and stored by Affinity.
The registry model is expected to operate
on the IPV6 protocol in addition to the IPV4 which is a major advance and we believe
does significantly “advance the state of the art”.
2. After 3 to 6 months
The
two primary test bed servers will be transformed to serve the security server and
the whole process will be migrated to Patmos type machines from 16 node and 256 processors
on Linux. This ambitious choice is motivated by the fact that 7Ways attaches great
importance to real time transactions and secured information.
There would thus
be 3 systems operating. A Patmos system for the production at Affinity and
2 classical PC server systems that provide mirroring in Europe and Asia.
The Patmos
technology guarantees a high degree of capacity and treatment.
Fault Tolerance
After
the test bed period, during the production phase, Affinity guarantees a maximum tolerance
level – 7Ways experience in military network architecture is an important guarantee
that gives Affinity the best tolerance level.
The Patmos module choice at 16 nodes
is motivated by the fact that it will be possible to continually develop and evolve
the registry material.
The classical 7Ways registry model (not Patmos) has been
tested on over 2,000,000 transactions with daily attack tests under tolerance conditions
identical to those required by military applications. 7Ways will therefore
guarantee to provide the same level of security for the .biz registry that has been
required in the development of military applications.
All connectivity is based,
like the Patmos system, on optical fiber.
