On behalf of the National Association of Housing Cooperatives,
and the
more than 1 million families who live in housing cooperatives accross
the country, I would like to commend the ICANN staff on their decision
that
the .co-op domain proposal was both technically and financially
sound, and their
decision to keep the .co-op domain proposal under
consideration for a Top-Level
Domain name. Having received such an outpouring of popular support,
with virtually
no criticism, the .co-op domain proposal is one of the soundest
new
TLD proposals. Perhaps it will not generate the most controversy
or
headlines, but it will benefit internet users across the globe,
fulfill
unmet needs on the Internet, and open up domain names for
businesses and organizations
in a very diverse array of fields,
including agriculture, housing, finance, shopping,
and many others.
With such a potential range of organizations, countries, and consumers
that could benefit by the adoption of a .co-op TLD, NAHC highly
encourages
ICANN to adopt .co-op as the Special Purpose TLD that will
truely make a difference
on the Internet.
