Christopher, while IOD's experience as a working TLD
registry (even with a small number of subscribers) is a very strong point, Abacus
is the only other company except NSI who have demonstrated a working gRRP based solution.
This will allow existing .com, .net and .org registrars (more than 50) to start registering
names with no changes to their current software. Even better, Abacus has the XML
based solution which registrars can give to the end users - resellers, web designers,
etc. This will allow virtually anyone to be a domain registrar with very little effort
and this is the best way to break NSI's domain monopoly (however, it seems like ICANN
is not very interested to change the current situation).
