As a supporter of the .coop tld, COPAC was pleased to
note that the ICANN staff review concluded that the proposal for .coop/.co-op is
both technically and financially sound. we also noted with satisfaction the
wide support received from co-ops and their partners. This new tld will
make a difference to Internet users worldwide. It will enhance competition
in domain name registry services, but more importantly it will help consumers find
the businesses they trust on the Internet and enhance the co-op image throughout
the world. Because the word co-op/coop is recognized across the globe to represent
businesses that are owned and operated by their members, .co-op will make a strong
new addition to existing TLDs.
COPAC again wishes to express its support and urge
ICANN approve .coop/.co-op as a Special Purpose TLD.
