I am sorry not to have been
able to attend the current meeting. After gaining access to the meeting rooms through
remote access I
witnessed 4 votations, two of which were accepted: 1) about giving
applicants time to react to the Evaluation Report before any decision
on
their applications will be taken, 2) about deciding whithin the
Marina Del Rey
meeting, which new gtlds should be accepted.
The result of the votations was interpreted
as contradictory and the
general public was openly considered as to be silly,
without any
understanding of the meaning of the items they voted on.
This seems
to be a misunderstanding. I do not understand what the
applications as such have
to do with the general decision on which
new gtlds should be selected.
The
result is everything but silly and shows, which are the next
steps to be taken:
1)
give the applicants time to reply to the evaluation report and
only afterwards
move towards the decision on which applicant may
become the registry of the respective
new gtld chosen as suitable for
the first round.
2) decide, which new gtlds
are principally selected for the first
round (e.g. .web, .kids, .info, ...)
It
is strange to witness such unsubstantiated insults towards the
general public,
whose opinion must be of highest interest to the
board of directors of ICANN.
Thank
you.
