We need new TLDs, and new models on how they can be operated. The
nature of the Internet is to allow different approaches to work themselves out.
your Staff Report suggests:
"In view of the submissions of multiple applications
in this group that present strong proposals under the August 15 Criteria, the team
believes that the Board could responsibly select a limited number of applications
from this group."
The reason for selecting one over the other would be entirely
subjective. Make the objective choice - choose them all. For example:
Diebold - .global
iDomains - .ecom
IOD - .web
JVTeam - .biz
NeuStar - .site
This would be the competition you are looking for, while
avoiding conflict and providing strong applicants the opportunity to succeed.
