Hurrah, we need a personal domain TLD, but why isn't
ICANN concerned that the costs associated with this application are so wildly out
of sync with the other applications ? A cynical mind would question whether the
partners aren't feathering their own nests. Hardware, software and services
from one of the partners and a convoluted pricing mechanism that favors existing
registrars (including Melbourne IT)....Where's the value add to the community as
a whole, where's the transparency and where's the funding for the venture ?
The
ICANN tender document makes it clear that having the business financed was an important
issue, but it doesn't seem to rate very highly in their weighting of proposals.
