Subject: .kids Domains: US bias?

Message:

Contrary to .kids Domains' claims to be representative of the Internet
as a whole, its proposed guidelines are to be based primarily on US
laws - see the link below. Even if one believes that censorship of
what children see (including assistance of such censorship - or of
censorship of adults by governments - which is what .kids would be) is
rightful, one has to question whether the US is the appropriate base
for this. US attitudes regarding sexually explicit material are far
different from those in Europe, for instance. Other areas of
difference include on US-illegal drugs (see the Netherlands and
marijuana, for instance), violent material, political speech, and many
other areas.
