Visit the New.net web site, which makes a direct assault
on the ICANN monopoly, which offers an additional 20 TLDs for $25.00 per year. The
new TLDs include .kids, .travel, .law, .med, .sport, .tech, .mp3 and .xxx.
They supposedly work with the existing domain name system (DNS) infrastructure and
New.net says it has partnered with an infrastructure service company called UltraDNS
to make access to the new TLDs generally available. New.net says it has
agreements with Earthlink, Excite@Home and Net Zero that allow customers of those
ISPs to reach the new TLDs. Other Internet users may reach them via a downloadable
plugin.
