... selling out ICANN's financial future, in turn for
their hefty compensation packages now. If I'm mistaken here, someone out there
let me know, however, I believe I read some where in the new budget that salaries
at ICANN can reach $300,000.00 per year. That's pretty damn good, and if I
made that much working at ICANN, I'm not sure I'd give a damn about ICANN's long
term outlook ... I would only care about lasting as many years as I could at $300,000.00
each year. Every year I boardsquat, another 300 G's. Not bad. If ICANN
merely set minimum standards for new TLD registries, the ICANN coffers would be much
fuller, faster. They could suck a buck out of every registry, for every TLD.
Obviously, the current staff and Directors seem not to be that concerned about
ICANN's long term outlook. It seems like more of a power/money grab for the
ever-dwindling short term.
