The addition of new Top Level Domains such as ".shop", ".bus" etc. would be a significant
mistake. These new domains would create such trademark havoc that the growth
of the Internet would be adversely affected. Also, these new domain extensions
would create a situation where those with litigation money would regularly triumph
over those with less resources. The Internet would become a litigation battlefield.
Finally, with the character length of domains possible, there are many excellent
two and three word domains available, as there will be for many years. There
are countless combinations possible. I strongly suspect many people promoting
these new Top Level Domains have other goals in mind....goals such as being registrars
who will make money with the registration of these new names, or possibly, these
are people hoping for a second chance because they did not get the "good names" from
the original registrations of the Top Level Domains. In conclusion, it is extremely
PREMATURE to add such confusion and stress to this delicate and successful Internet
medium. Don't fix that which isn't broken....Delay this addition until it is
really needed.
