        I'm in a hurry, but I felt I should make my comments now, before I get sidetracked. 

I can't see the harm in letting competition into the market of domain names.  In fact, if I remember correctly, is it not illegal to keep one company with a monopoly on the market?  Oh well, it's the Internet, the law doesn't apply. 

All that aside, I don't see a problem with allowing gTLDs.  It's another chance to get the URL you wanted (more or less) at a reasonable price.
