Whether or not new gTLDs are added, what and how many
they should be, what should be the registration process, and who should be the registry
and registrars: these are decisions that will ultimately affect billions of people
around the world, fundamentally shaping the growth of the internet for years to come.
There are a lot of dissenting voices in this forum. The opinions posted here are
not necessarily reflective of society's as a whole. Rather, they are the voices of
a tiny handful of people who are choosing to speak up for their own reasons. Some
of these reasons are selfish. Some may be noble. Yours is a thankless job, ICANN
members, and you will hear many competing viewpoints. But I urge you to remain objective
and to not be unduly influenced by what you see in this forum. By considering all
sides, you will be able to make the decisions that are in the best interests of hundreds
of millions of people.
