I don't think it will help to add new domains, but it certainly won't cause that much damage to allow the people that worked on this .web TLD to get it in place (just for the record, I don't own any .web TLDs). At least we could see what would happen.  If added at a slower pace, it may offer some benefit.  Only trying would tell.
