The successful functioning of the Internet depends much on compliance with
rules and standards in certain key areas. Verisign is in a position of power,
possessing the ability to affect large amounts of Internet requests. A position
of responsibility, entrusted with maintaining standards. Their current practice
is in every sense, motivated by their own greed, valuing the accumlation of
money over maintaining the integrity of a system designed to be open. They are
certainly entitled to hold such a belief, however they do not have the right to
affect a system that does not belong to them pursuing this end. They have
abused their post and neglected their responsibilities. This is a fact that
cannot be denied. Exercise your authority and see that justice is done in this
matter. Let us ensure that the Internet remains a computing system where
machines can receive error messages to provide information on requests. Let us
strive for efficiency and commonsense in maintaing this syst!
 em. Thank you.

I have signed and I agree with the petition at http://www.whois.sc/verisign-dns/
