The problem is ICANN. I posted a long message at ICANN own board why. Let's see
whether ICANN will have the guts to publish it. Other than that John Walker
(see below) got it right and I can not say it better than him "This is the
symptom of a major problem. Verisign isn't the problem: they just acted in a
predictable manner. The problem lies in the system that allowed Versign to be
in this position, and either didn't foresee the problem then, or still doesn't
see it now. "
