Dear ICANN –
As someone who owns personal and business domains, and as someone who has a
full-time Systems Administrator role, I urge you to keep WHOIS privacy as
it currently is.
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation
Issues Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
I believe that what you are putting into effect is wide-sweeping and will
affect small businesses. A small business owner could be required to give
their home address. Forcing this kind of information is a breach of privacy
and is irresponsible.
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
Ronnie
