Dear ICANN
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS
privacy services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services
Accreditation Issues Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one's personal information should be revealed without a court
order, regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual
or law enforcement agency.
- Private information should be kept private.
There are people whose lives would be at risk if this information were
to be revealed - look at Facebook and the Drag Queen cases to see how
this is a very real threat. If anyone were to be exposed and suffered as
a result of your actions, you would be to blame - each and every one of
you making this poorly informed decision.
Thank you,
Emma Kalson
Web developer whose client portfolio includes clients who need to
preserve their privacy.
