Dear ICANN,
The only way I use the internet is to pay my bills, search for DIY information,
and learning website building. I am, for the first time creating a website, the
process is new to me, I didn't know what to expect. I was shocked to find my
name, home address, telephone number, all my personal information that I have
always guarded very closely online. Now in one fall swoop, just because I
created a domain name, which I've done nothing with yet, my personal
information is all over. This is not right, not like there's anything to hide,
I'm just a private type person. This makes me furious!
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation Issues
Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
