Dear ICANN –
I am deeply concerned and disturbed regarding the recent proposals to change
WHOIS privacy. I am honestly amazed such a blatant suggestion of invasion of
privacy has made it this far.
Private data must be kept private. Legal gatekeepers (the court system) are
already in place to assure legitimate access to private data when deemed
necessary. Bypassing this system and providing private data without due
process should never take place in a modern society that respects its citizens
and their right to privacy.
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation Issues
Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process. -
Everyone deserves the right to privacy.- No one’s personal information should
be revealed without a court order, regardless of whether the request comes from
a private individual or law enforcement agency.
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
