Dear ICANN –
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation Issues
Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
- As a female photographer operating from home, I conceal my address so that
random people visiting my website do not know where I live. Perhaps you haven't
heard, but there are quite a few women being harassed and threatened online by
people who have easily found their home address. This harassment includes
threats to rape and behead women, as well as murdering their entire families.
Kindly watch this piece by John Oliver for more information on this frightening
phenomenon, as well as the ludicrous lack of legal protection from these crimes
and less-than-stellar response of law enforcement:

Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
