Dear ICANN -
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation Issues
Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
1. Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
2. No one's personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
On a more personal note, I get relentlessly harassed by robo-callers quite
literally the day I purchase a domain, and this is because I do not immediately
institute WHOIS proxy protection; that said, once I receive 10 phone calls in
10 hours for web design service, SEO optimization and a load of other nonsense,
I purchase protective status because people will always abuse the personal
information of others. Please do not needlessly subject me to this type of
scrutiny.
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
