Dear ICANN –
I, as an individual, have a few websites which I use to express myself
or simply to offer a small service to other people. I do not wish to
have my personal information available online for everyone to see, and
as such I pay for whois privacy. Anyone who needs that information can
still get a court order, but anyone who doesn't has no business knowing
my full name and home address, the same way my home phone number is
unlisted.
All my sites comply with all necessary laws, but since I use
advertisements to cover part of the server's cost, could be considered
"commercial" according to the new suggested rules.
If the rule passes that forces my contact information to be public, I
will feel forced to shut down all my websites, as I'm sure are many
others would, too.
Please reconsider,
Rui Pinheiro
