To ICANN regarding recent proposed changes to WHOIS information policy;
I implore you to reconsider your proposals. The public and immediate
availability of access to private information goes against people's
right to privacy. This change has the potential to cause more harm than
good. If the private contact details of an individial or organisation
need to be accessed, a court order is currently required - as it should
be. This change allows any independent individual (with potentially
malicious intent) to access people's information with no explicit reason.
Please strongly reconsider your decision here. This change has the
potential to literally affect people's lives. If a law enforcement
agency has a valid reason to request the private details of an
individual, then they can leave that decision to the court of law.
Thank you for reading this email.
