Hello,
I am GREATLY against to the proposed changes to the rules governing
privacy and proxy services as listed in the 2013 Registrar Accreditation
Agreement.
I understand that US entertainment companies are a major force in
pushing for this change so that they may identify persons infringing on
their copyrights and trademarks; however, these companies already have
the power to obtain this information via subpoenas.
While obtaining identity information directly may be more expeditious
for these companies, it presents a huge burden to individuals running
personal websites and to the owners of small home businesses that have a
website. Making public the name, home address, and telephone number of
these owners of small websites will expose these individuals to an
increased risk of harassment, intimidation, and identity theft.
Please respect our privacy and scrap this proposal to eliminate website
anonymity!
Thank you,
Chris Bushick
