New top level domains are important to enable more choice and innovation in
the Internet. With 13 million .de domain registrations the existing
namespace in Germany is becoming increasingly crowded. The new domain
extensions will open opportunities for new businesses looking for useful
domain names.

 

The information obtained from the EOI process can help to solve the
overarching issues that remain unsolved and have caused delays in the
implementation of the gTLD programme.
