Dotfam Association welcomes ICANN?s initiative to call for Expressions of
interest (EOI). We agree with ICANN?s that this is the best way to obtain
just general information about the new gTLD?s applications. This could
help in organization and logistics to launch the new gTLD?s program as
soon as possible. This is ICANN?s benefit and we agree, but what about
applicants?
Of course any action to accelerate the process is welcome, but we think
that more advantages could be inherent to this procedure.
The Draft EOI Model argues that this process could be an early opportunity
to resolve contention between applicants. Only the delay in the proccess
will be the reason to refund the initial fee? Moreover, knowing the real
initiatives around the world will help the different applicants to get
more and better real information before the evaluation process starts.
This could reduce potential surprises and problems in the future. There
should be a refund in case of some type of agreemens between two
applicants in order to avoid future competition?
Anyway, currently, timetable is maybe the most important and interesting
question for the applicants, so we trust that ICANN is able to have ready
the new 4th version of the Draft Applicants Guidebook as soon as possible
, not delaying the pre-registration process too much.

Best regards, the Dotfam team / Guillermo Lacarra - CEO
