Hi all,

I did not want to intrude in your conversation here, as I think Jeff summarized
the situation very well. However I take exception with the idea that there be
political forces in play... i.e. even stronger political forces than those
usually in play at ICANN ;)

As Jeff explained, it is up to the Council to determine whether the group
should continue to exist. That is not any more political than the way any other
DT is overseen by the GNSO Council. I do not think it reflects any specific
agenda beyond the normal oversight function that the Council is obliged to hold
over the DTs and WGs that it creates.

I think Jeff's call for this group's opinion so that he can then take that to
the Council discussion is the right one. I have followed the debate on this
list as a silent observer and I have been very impressed by the amount of work
you have all put into this. As Chair of the Council, I want to thank you all
for that work. I feel very confident that, whatever you determine is the best
way forward, you will be able to task your group's chair with conveying that
message.

After that, the final decision remains the Council's.

Thanks,
