AC Chat:

Nathalie Peregrine:Dear all, Welcome to the GNSO Review Working Party on the 8
December 2015
  Chuck Gomes:Where's our leader?
Charla Shambley:Hi Chuck -- I just sent Jen an email.
  Chuck Gomes:Thanks Charla.
Mary Wong:Please remember to mute your mics if you are not speaking, thank
you!
Nathalie Peregrine:We are looking for the beeping line
Rudi Vansnick:Klaus Stoll will not be able to join, he has to go seeing the
doctor
  Nathalie Peregrine:thanks Rudi, noted
Amr Elsadr:Apologies. I think that was my line beeping.
Chuck Gomes:While we are waiting for Jen, would it be helpful to review the
remaining recommendations?
  Stephanie Perrin:sounds good
  Amr Elsadr:Fine by me.
Jen Wolfe:My apologies, I did not get the email with the meeting time.
Nathalie Peregrine:Avri Doria ha sjoined the ca;l
  Nathalie Peregrine:call
Avri Doria:apologies, was in another meeting that went long.
Nathalie Peregrine:@ Jen, I will organise a few test emails so we can sort
out your calendar invite issues
  Amr Elsadr:@Jen: +1
  Rudi Vansnick:agree with Stefanie
Amr Elsadr:Red sounds good to me on this one.
Rudi Vansnick:i thought some of the recommendations in 21 are covered by the
data metrix program running now
Amr Elsadr:@Rudi: Yes, you may be right. I was fine with those
recommendations from the DMPM WG. This one seems confusing. :)
Rudi Vansnick:but that also seems to be an ongoing process
Rudi Vansnick:is part of the newcomers support and training efforts already
discussed earlier if i'm not wrong
Amr Elsadr:@Chuck: Yes..., one would expect this, but you never know.
Amr Elsadr:There are some lightweight orientation efforts to GNSO WG
newcomers. Something similar for incoming councillors may not be such a bad
thing.
  Stephanie Perrin:not hearing anything?
Stephanie Perrin:yes and the ICANN academy could take on the role to point
people to relevant training
Amr Elsadr:Yellow would be OK if we really do agree with their intent. :)
Amr Elsadr:I'm not entirely sure that we do.
  Stephanie Perrin:yes
  Amr Elsadr:Thanks.
Rudi Vansnick:i did not find directly the element "technical" in the text
itself
Marika Konings:Chuck is correct - it should be also noted that even after the
first meeting, new volunteers typically come in. The Chair(s) in consultation
with staff will usually check to make sure that there is sufficient
representation from the different parts of the ICANN community.
Amr Elsadr:If I recall correctly, there are procedures that may allow the
council to terminate a PDP prematurely for specific reasons. Adding these
standards to a similar practice would be challenging.
Marika Konings:both at the start of the WG, but also for WG meetings (it
wouldn't be the first time that calls are cancelled because of lack of
representation or the chair(s) go back to the Council to encourage additional
volunteers.
Rudi Vansnick:looking into the present participation in this WG we already
see it is difficult to get everyone on it all the time
Rudi Vansnick:should be part of the charter of each PDP WG
  Amr Elsadr:@Marika: Yes..., very true.
  Rudi Vansnick:correct Stephanie
Rudi Vansnick:we know participation from Africa, due to connectivity issues ,
is problematic
Stephanie Perrin:agree, turn this rec into a review checkpoint would solve it.
  Chuck Gomes:+1 Stephanie
Amr Elsadr:Are we also sending something to the GNSO Council?
  Rudi Vansnick:good question Amr
  Rudi Vansnick:i would suggest yes
  Amr Elsadr:@Jen: OK. Thanks.
  Rudi Vansnick:@Chuck +1
Amr Elsadr:Isn't January when the Council will need to look at the CCWG recs
as well?
  Stephanie Perrin:+1 Chuck!
Larisa Gurnick:@Chuck, re: prioritization - OEC and the rest of the Board
would be interested in hearing your thoughts on prioritization and work load.
Stephanie Perrin:And in terms of the Westlake review, I would have expected
the independent examiner to have prioritized better if they are giving us 36
recommendations
Marika Konings:The Council tentatively has two meetings in January, so maybe
there is some room ;-)
  Amr Elsadr:Fantastic. :)
Stephanie Perrin::-) reading my mind Amr
Amr Elsadr:Won't some of the recommendations we yellowed become green after
we make modifications to them?
  Mary Wong:Thanks Jen!
Amr Elsadr:I would say before the holidays.
Amr Elsadr:We don't have much time, do we?
  Amr Elsadr:Sound advice Chuck. :)
Stephanie Perrin:Totally agree with Chuck, wedging this in right now is going
to be tough. As far as staff is concerned, will they not be getting a new CEO
soon as well?
  Amr Elsadr:Thanks all. Bye.
Stephanie Perrin:Happy holidays to all if we don't talk before January!
  Rudi Vansnick:bye
Larisa Gurnick:Thank you all very much for participating
  Chuck Gomes:Thanks all.
