Dear Chairman Dengate Thrush and Members of the Board:

I want to add a little bit more background to LatPro Inc's opposition to
Employ Media's request for authority to permit second level registration of
strings that do not correspond to an employer's name in the .jobs sponsored
top level domain.

In addition to operating DiversityJobs.com we also operate a network of job
boards which includes these diversity sites:

http://africanamericanhires.com
http://asianhires.com
http://allhispanicjobs.com
http://allveteranjobs.com
http://disabilityjobs.net
http://alllgbtjobs.com

Some may say it is hypocritical for those of us who operate networks of job
boards to oppose Employ Media's bid to do something similar. The difference
is that we compete on a level playing field for our domains and the pricing
structure for .com and .net is stable and fair. When a nonprofit like SHRM
gets involved with sponsoring a domain extension, I believe it has an
obligation to meet high standards of transparency and fairness. Certainly,
it should not allow itself to be used to create a monopoly for any private
company.

Other sites we operate include:

http://www.careeradviceblogs.com
http://www.jobboardblogs.com
http://www.toprecruitingblogs.com
http://www.internetrecruitingnews.com

You'll note that our websites are very inclusive. We go out of our way to
create partnerships with a very diverse group of organizations including
those that do not necessarily agree with our point of view.

Finally, I've written in more depth about the .jobs issue at hand here:

http://www.internetinc.com/Gerry-says-no-to-dot-jobs
http://www.internetinc.com/the-icann-dot-jobs-landmine
http://www.internetinc.com/the-dot-jobs-domain-tax

I hope you will consider your decision very carefully in light of the near
universal opposition of jobboards including the largest sites like
monster.com to the way this expansion plan has been handled.

I would call your attention specifically to Gerry Crispin's opposition:

*"However, I strongly oppose Employ Media's history of dissembling, lack of
transparency and willingness to enter into backroom deals and, am even more
strongly concerned with SHRM's inability to choose to act as a trusted
referee. It is for these reasons that I oppose the unilateral expansion of
the .jobs charter to encompass regional and industry-specific second-level
registrations under their auspices. The two entities you have trusted with
the Charter have every intention to misuse it for profit and/or look the
other way in a misguided notion of their role.*"

best regards,

Eric Shannon
