Do you mean me? - Only if relevant to posting that I answer ;-)

>This is a blatant misuse of the sunrise.

You are right, the sunrise period has been set up wrong.

IMO this has been purposeful - in their greed to milk as much profit, as is possible.

>I agree that many generic words have trademarks on them. But actually not all do.

I believe you are wrong - ALL generic words seem to be used.

Example: the single words - 'COLOUR' proper English :-)(UK 2224141),'COLOR' US spelling (UK 701156), 'COMPUTER' (UK 1134604), 'MUSIC' (UK 2049640)

AND would you believe the word 'INFO' has several trademarks (inc. UK 1100096 and 1405783).

If they wished - trademarks could get all words in the dictionary, before the TLD was open to the rest of the world.

***

Trademarks should not have to buy trademark name in every TLD - this is a new trademark tax.

Many share the same words - CONFLICT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID - so they should not have to protect these words in all TLD.
