You are correct Bob it is Nameit/AITdomains.  I didn't want to mention their name in case they rectified their mistake.  I have received one email from them listing their terms and conditions that registration fees are not refundable.  I accept this, but a registration is only successful if your details appears on the Afilias database and this, as you agree, is not possible before the landrush starts.  I have not been informed by Nameit/AITdomains that they will refund the fees if the registration does not go through and I hope you are correct that they will.
