As mentioned in http://www.ar.com ... "September 22 through September 30, 2001: Registry shutdown. The registry will be shut down from 00:01 UTC on September 22 until 13:59 UTC on October 1. "Shutdown" means that during this time, registrants and registrars CANNOT make changes to records in the registry." My deduction ... The whois is expected to be reopened at 10am Monday New York time and 7am Monday California time. You can check your pre-reg status then. Apparently, land-rush processing has already concluded! So your fate is already sealed by now. Live registrations are expected to open at 4pm Monday New York time and 1pm Monday California time.
