and your comments certainly hold true here. More and more privatisation of
public services and utilities - often at give away prices - just to get an administration
in a position to balance a budget after a period of profligacy, or to enable their
pork barrelling in the lead up to the next election. Once sold into private
enterprise, prices rise quickly and service drops through the floor. Corporations
here are posting record profits and paying CEOs 10s of millions in salaries and bonuses
for sacking 10s of thousands of people and reducing service - all supposedly done
out of responsibility to the share holders. To me this is not progress and
economic rationalism has a lot to answer for. cheers
