In the case of countries - they have them already - they are called ccTLD.

They have a whole TLD to themselves - why steal peoples domains?

You can write a book about South Africa and Barcelona - why can you not have a domain about these countries?

Countries can have millions of domain names - can't they?
Millions of SLD - eg. South Africa could use SouthAfrica.za, Government.za, CapeTown.za, etc. etc.

Yet many more millions of third level - anything.gov.za, anything.air.za, anything.zoo.za, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Barcelona council took Barcelona.com off the legal owner. Why not use Barcelona.es or Barcelona.gov.es?

Trademarks and countries wish to abuse their powers.

They are corrupt bullies.
