U.S. Postal Service proposal: restricting domain names to street addresses
Regarding the U.S. Post Office proposal to administer the .us
ccTLD:
I am categorically opposed to all and any definition,
restriction, or limitation of domain names by geographical street
addresses. Such restriction is totally antithetical to the spirit of
universality of Internet communications. Better would be the
abandonment, internationally, of ccTLDs.

"The Postal Service is working with the Internet Assigned Numbers
Authority (IANA) on the mapping of .us locality addresses to the postal
address database. These street- level addresses under .us..."
"A mail or server address in .us can provide assurance that a user is in
fact physically within the United States."
