Subject: Helping BC members understand changes in the "final" Applicant
guidebook
In our last BC meeting, you were among the members who volunteered to help us
quickly digest significant changes in the so-called ‘final’ gTLD guidebook.
ICANN will post the document on Tuesday 9-Nov. (it will be featured on home
page, but also should be at http://icann.org/en/topics/new-gtlds/dag-en.htm )
The BC is holding a member call on 11-Nov ( 10am eastern US time) to talk about
policy topics we expect going into Cartagena.
Best case, you guys join the 11-Nov call and offer your first-look analysis of
how the new Guidebook changed vis-a-vis DAGv4.
( ICANN usually posts redline comparison, though it may not be immediately
available)
Let’s use a divide-and-conquer approach, by delegating Modules among you.
Please reply-all with change/confirm of these module assignments:
Module 1: Introduction to New gTLD Application Process and Fees.
Berry Cobb, Ron Andruff
Module 2: Evaluation Procedures.
Jon Nevett, Adam Palmer (security criteria for applicants) Zahid Jamil
(rights protection mechanisms)
Module 3: Dispute Resolution. John Berard, Ron Andruff
Module 4: String Contention. Ron Andruff
Module 5: Transition to Delegation.
Greg Rattray, Fred Fellman ( flexibility for dot-brand TLDs, HSTLDs),
Berry Cobb (mitigating malicious conduct), Jon Nevett (VI)
If additional discussion of the Guidebook is needed, we can do a another call
on 18-Nov to focus on Guidebook changes.
Thanks,
Steve
