Dear Working Group Members.

Set forth below is a compilation of the substantive items discussed and
proposed during the Geographic Regions Review Working Group Call conducted on 2
February 2011. The call discussions focused on the Working Groups’ planning
effort for drafting and publishing the Final Report later this year.

Geographic Regions Review Working Group Call Meeting Report

Attendees:

WG Members:
David Archbold
Olga Cavalli
Cheryl Langdon-Orr
Carlton Samuels

Staff:
Rob Hoggarth
Gisella Gruber-White

1. Topic One – Public Comment Forum Update:

Staff reported that there were presently 3 separate comments reflecting views
from 7 different parties that had been submitted to the comment forum and that
the ccNSO Chair had advised Staff that his organization would submit its
comments shortly. Staff had also added the transcript of the Working Group’s
Cartagena Workshop to the forum and planned to incorporate community comments
during that session in the forum's standard Summary/Analysis document.

Since the meeting, the ccNSO Chair has submitted the ccNSO's comments to the
Staff for insertion into the forum. Also, the ALAC Chair has advised Staff
that the ALAC has formally endorsed its Statement submitted to the forum with
13-0 votes and no abstentions (see attached email). Accordingly, Staff will
begin preparing the Summary/Analysis document shortly.

2. Topic Two – Final Report Drafting Process and Publication Schedule:

Working Group members on the call agreed that there was not enough
timeavailable to develop a draft Final Report by the ICANN Public Meeting in
San Francisco and that drafting of a Final Report could take as long as the
public meeting scheduled for Amman, Jordan in June.

Working Group members agreed to commence the Final Report drafting effort and
asked Staff to develop an issues matrix similar to that recently used by other
ICANN crosscommunity working groups. Staff will circulate a draft issue matrix
document by 11 February for WG review. WG members will have the opportunity to
review, add, edit and comment on the document until 21 February at which time a
second draft matrix will be produced. The WG will attempt to meet again during
the work-week beginning 28 February with a goal of publishing a draft matrix by
4 March which will be made available for Working Group members to share and
discuss with their communities at the ICANN Public Meeting in San Francisco.

Working Group members on the call asked Staff to reserve a meeting room at the
ICANN Public Meeting in San Francisco for a potential workshop session to
discuss the draft issue matrix with the community. A time slot similar to that
for the Cartagena meeting has been reserved.

3. Meeting Files:

Gisella has already shared links to a copy of the MP3 recording of the 2
February call and a transcript of the meeting via email. The files have already

It was initially drafted by Mohamed El Bashir, member of the At-Large Advisory

comments that same day. No additional comments were received.

The Appendix to the Statement consists of the contributions from the five

Thank you.
