ICANN,
While the reasonable limits upon individual privacy is a cornerstone
of inclusion into almost every and any organisation, it must be realised
that they are simply that: reasonable. To force the public display of
identities, as proposed in the *Initial Report on the Privacy & Proxy
Services Accreditation Issues Policy Development Process* (dated 5 May,
2015), *pushes far beyond* the definition of *reasonable* and places many
at risk and potential harm. Surely those involved in this proposal and its
review are familiar with the contemporary issues surrounding harassment,
violent speech, and general oppression of minority groups, as well as that
of historically maligned groups, over the internet, even with the current
protections in place; to remove one without the implementation of at least
a comparable protection for groups at risk is to be reckless and is to be
in disregard of the reality of the lived experiences of your fellow people.
I implore ICANN to reconsider the implementation of this plan as
presented.
Sincerely,
Brett Collins
