Hello,
I run a few websites that provide services to one or more apps for mobiles.
I do this for my personal development and enhancing my personal skills.
There's no money involved and there's no liability from my side to my users.
The issue I end up facing is that a lot of them figure out the website and
domain name I use and that leads them to track WhoIs and spam me out.
Although, it hasn't happened to me but I've heard of a few other developers
in community who have received threats on their home address when they did
not refund or fulfilled a request/demand from one of the users.
I give out free services but I always stay scared of anyone figuring out my
home address and identity since that can be misused. And as always, I
comply with the policies set by ICANN and keep my details updated and true.
I request ICANN to protect WHOIS details from general searches and do not
turn them up unless there's a police enquiry/court order to do so. Just
doing this will make it so simple and secure for me and yet abiding by the
laws to disclose any information when it's really required.
Thank you ICANN
