IDN New gTLDs in many countries and cultures have tremendous advantages over
ASCII TLDs due to their thousands of years' culture, history and habits.
ASCII TLDs, including ".com" and ".net", are still quite foreign to the
majority of local populations. It is very hard for the local population to
recognize or remember the .com address. They all have to count on search
engines to direct them to websites they want to go to. This adds some
complexity to get more people online. The phenomenon is likely to continue so
for very long time outside developed countries.
That is why IDN New gTLDs have the potential of contributing more to getting
more people online and generate more innovations than ASCII counterparts in the
next few years. This is a brand new or different world.
This will not happen if the universal acceptance issue is not resolved quickly.
