How To Shut The Door On TM Violations

The vast majority of TM violations will be from generic word TLDs. If ICANN
wants to greenlight a dotNFL or dotCNN, so be it because those TLDs are
trademarks themselves and will be closely monitored. However, when they allow
a dotCARS, dotWINE or dotCOMPUTERS is when the trouble will begin. The #1
reason anyone would invest in launching a generic word TLD would be to profit
from reselling. And reselling means a free market with TM violations dealt
with after the fact with no repercussions on the administrator. Put it this
way - has VeriSign ever been sued because someone registered a trademark
violating dotCOM from them?
