ICA Support to .coop renewal

Message from the ICA President, Ivano Barberini

The International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) unites, represents and serves 
co-operatives around the world. With 223 national and international 
co-operative organizations representing more than 800 million people, ICA 
strongly supports the renewal of the .coop domain name as this domain name has 
proven useful to co-operatives worldwide to differentiate themselves from other 
enterprises. 

.coop is enabling co-operatives to become more visible and better understood.  
The domain name is assisting in fulfilling ICA's aim of promoting the 
Co-operative Identity and Co-operative Principles, facilitating the development 
of economic and other mutually beneficial relations among ICA member 
co-operatives and more generally furthering the economic and social progress of 
its members and their communities.  

ICA members have noted that .coop allows people find co-operative enterprises 
easily on the Internet allowing co-ops to strengthen their branding, as well as 
contributing to building relationship among co-operatives and strengthening the 
links of co-ops with their communities. 

May I again reiterate the support of ICA for the renewal of the .coop domain 
name.
