Greetings again,
The comments made by Dennis Richards (
http://forum.icann.org/lists/cyber-safety-petition/msg00240.html) are an ad
hominem attack that detracts from the real issues at hand. Regardless of how
Mr. Richards feels about Ralph Yarro’s business practices or Cheryl Preston
(who has disclosed that she is represents CP80 throughout her involvement at
ICANN, see the NCUC public list and the ICANNWiki), he has not given any
legitimate reasons why either of them should not be able to participate in a
constituency. Last time I checked, being a member of the Mormon Church did
not preclude you from having a voice at ICANN or any other public or
industry forum. But I’m sure you know that, seeing as you are so concerned
about free speech.
If you look at the CyberSafety constituency’s membership roster (
https://st.icann.org/data/workspaces/ncsg-commons/attachments/cybersafety_constituency_proposed:20090323232038-0-23383/original/Membership%20Roster%20(23%20Mar%202009).pdf),
there is a diverse group of individuals from different states, countries and
religious backgrounds who are all interested in the values listed in the
CyberSafety constituency’s mission statement. None of the values listed
include censorship.
Best Regards,
Doug
