Palmer and all sgb members,
I fully agree to the point that "consumers need protection from
identity theft and other fraud and abuse." And the biggest perps
exposing consumers to identity theft and other fraud and abuse
recently has been the financial/banking industry and some
government agencies/departments. Most of these exposures
are due to poor or no adequate security processes and procedures,
as the articles and blog I posted points out.
Indeed as of the last report card from the GAO, many USG
departments received failing or nearly failing grades. Ergo making
several of them not adequate competent to determine which
banks or financial institutions will make for good or reasonable
third party accessors. See: http://www.gao.gov/docsearch/repandtest.html
for more details ect...
