Dear Julie,

The charter is drafted in such a way that the Working Group will have some
amount of freedom, but it would indeed be good to hear Edmon Chung's and Ching
Chiao's opinions as this work does connect to other WGs and PDPs of at least
some of which they have a good knowledge.

So I have no issue with the cancellation of this Thursday's meeting. I'm sure
it's all right for you to contact them, even if it ends up being a duplicate
e-mail.

Regards,

Chris.

All,

I would like to suggest that we cancel the call this Thursday. I suggest this
because I would really like to get Ching Chao and Edmon Chung involved and to
get their comments on the latest version of the Charter. If I recall
correctly, Rudi agreed to get in touch with them. Perhaps we could either see
if they can join at 1500 UTC on Thursday of next week, or send their comments
to the list. Alternatively, I'd be happy to get in touch with them and request
their comments and participation in the DT.

For the participation in the WG, please note that staff will do an announcement
to invite members (once the Council approves the Charter) and we do expect that
there will be more participants than we have in the DT.

Please let me know if you have any objections to canceling this week's call and
also how you would like to proceed with engaging Ching and Edmon.

Best regards,
Julie

Dear all,

I would like to second the various opinions in this thread. I think the key
will be to press forward with the Charter and have it submitted to the GNSO
Council in time for its October Meeting - the deadline for which is 30
September. Once the Charter is completed and approved we could start a
proactive membership drive that could potentially involve the various
Stakeholder Groups and Constituency chairs to ask their support in drumming up
WG participation. In addition, as Amr pointed out, participation is
traditionally larger for Working Groups than it is for Charter Drafting Teams.

As for the GNSO Council call, I have been in touch with Julie earlier today
about the overlap, since both her and I are usually participating in those
calls. Since it is Labor Day today, I am sure that Julie will get back tomorrow.

Finally, as a suggestion, there is always the possibility to draw up a to-do
list of items yet to be discussed. The Drafting Team could do this via this
email list, which might help in turn focus the remaining debate and speed up
our next meetings to help meet the 30 September deadline.

Best wishes,
Lars

I'm guessing the WG will attract more participation than the charter drafting
team. At least I hope so. :)

Thanks.

Dear all,

I think we are indeed almost there with the charter and also that we have been
quorate. However, if the WG were much smaller, it may not be. All we can do is
to continue to encourage participation and the WG will need to make a decision
on the low-number problem if it is any worse.

Chris.

Dear all,

Based on the doodle poll it looks like the drafting team is a very limited
group of enthusiastic people.
How can we get more people involved ?

Basically the definition of the charter is almost done. I'm worried about the
next steps, being the working group itself. How many will be interested ?
